Is Dell still using proprietary power supplies and mobo connections? Their XPS STudio 435 is priced acceptably, but the 475W power supply seems like a bottleneck. It'd be nice if I could swap that out for a 650W-850W, but I'd like to know if Dell is still stuck on proprietary PSUs and mobo connections.

Is there any way I could easily confirm if their Studio XPS 435 or 630 uses standard ATX PSU's?

call them and ask? if this is a fullsize desktop, i would guess that they are, i doubt dell has invented their own standards for mobo power. the only thing that might be lacking are extra connectors (4 pin molex, sata, pcie).

how in the world would your PSU be a 'bottleneck'? if you're not upgrading this computer with a massively larger graphics card the stock PSU will be fine.

usually their website has the manual with pinouts, but for this particular model, I could not find that. I am pretty sure they are all regular ATX now though...other than the small form factor cases.

Dell uses standard ATX PSUs in their smaller mini towers like the Studio I configged for my uncle, so I'm sure the larger ones do as well. What upgrades do you plan on doing to the comp after you buy it? The 475w inside is probably Delta made (good quality), so It should be fine with any single card setup
