Local insurance business has 3 of these printers. They are all hooked up to week old Dimension 3000's running windows xp pro sp2. Two machines are a wireless network and one is wired.

Each printer is shared on the network. I can print but only when the printer is first started up.

One insurance application using adobe gives me this error message: Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close" and "Operation could not be completed" even if I just started up the printer.

I hooked up an older HP printer and that error was non existent. I've tried acrobat 6 and 7 too.

The printers have been removed and reinstalled too. I have also received the error "no printer installed" when in fact there is access to 3 printers.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you installing the OCR and FAX software on ALL the PC's?

If so, that is the issue.
Seems the Dell\Lexmark printer monitor doesn't like giving up the spooling services.

I had the same issue with the Lexmark version and it is what I found to be the problem.
When I stopped the OCR & FAX services the issue went away.

Recommended the client sell the printers, but alas they like paying $100+ for the ink
cartridges, so I just added a print server.

I messed with it some today, that seems like a good idea. They don't need faxing on them or OCR. I told them that the printers in my opinion were junk and they should just purchase a nice networked laser for printing forms, etc.
