Dell PERC 5/i card

I just picked up my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P and a Q6600 but am having some problems getting my RAID card working. Im wondering if anyone here has the Dell PERC 5/i card working in a 4x electrical PCI-Express slot even though it is an 8x card? Preferably 16x physical, 4x electrical. Thanks.
 
Both the Asus and the Gigabyte boards seems to give errors when using non graphics card in the x16/x4 slot. There seems to be indications that it works w/ Abit's IP35-Pro (heard one off cases of people having it working w/ 9650SE and another w/ an Areca). I'm probably going to try w/ a Perc 5/i soon in an Abit.

Funny, you seem to be reading our posts on this over at . Just to confirm: the IP35 Pro does seem to work with both Areca 12*0 cards and the 9650SE, but no one has confirmed a PERC 5/i yet. There are definite issues with GB and it seems with Asus as well.
