I have a Dell PC at work that is so slow (how slow is it?) it's ridiculous. It has a slot processor, 500MHz. I don't know dick about slocket adapters and even if they'll work in a Dell. If possible, I need a Slocket and a good processor. Anyone have any advice? Unfortunately, I don't think they'll entertain the idea of a new PC.

I used a P3 1gig with an IWILL slocket on my old Dell P3 450. I also used a couple of generic slockets with it as well. The Abit is the only one that wouldn't work. A bios flash was all that was needed and I only did it to make the POST screen accurate.

I got all my info here

Yes, that helps speed QUITE alot.
honestly, a 500MHz machine when tuned up with the right parts could be lightning... alot faster than a P4 with slow hdd and lesser memory. I'd look for a fresh format, some faster HDD and more memory if you can't find a new CPU that works.
