Dell p1230

Anyone own one of the dells? Only difference I noticed was the max reso was only 1600x1200 and a lower brightness. Friend wants to upgrade the old 17inch and can get the dell for $100 less, but if its not up to par with the mitsu/nec's might as well just get one of them.

It is not up to par with the NEC/Mitsu.

Still, when viewing high-res color images, Dell?s P1230 couldn?t match the sharpness of NEC?s Kick Ass FE2111SB reviewed in July.

Link. That is the "lower"(very relative term) end NEC, not the 2141SB.

All things considered, we?re giving Dell?s P1230 high marks based on its superior handling of text. But we?re sticking with NEC?s FE2111SB when it comes to naming our favorite CRT. Besides meeting all of DisplayMate?s challenges with aplomb, the FE2111SB required the least amount of manual adjustment. And in side-by-side comparisons of high-res digital images, NEC?s CRT quite simply shines.

The 2141 and 2070 are the same monitor just with the different brand name right?

Yes, the only difference between the 2141 and the 2070 is the former says NEC and the latter Mitsubishi.
