Would any of you be able to open up your computer so we can all take a looksee
. I am trying to quiet down my computer but am not having all that great of luck. I downgraded my case, CPU and PSU fans to Panaflo's. However still it still does not compete with the queitness of a Dell I sat next to.
Here are the system specs for my computer with everything that makes noise... and I am unsuccessfully trying to silence.
Antec KS282: 1 L1A blowing air in with a homemade shroud covering the CPU.
300W PSU: 1 L1A blowing air out
Duron 800 with generic heatsink.
IBM 60GXP 40GB
Soyo K7V Dragon: (Is the fan required on the chipset?)
Leadtek Winfast GeForce2 Ultra: (ditto on the GPU)
HP 9100 Series CD-RW
Hitachi GD-8000 DVD.
I sat down next to a customers Dell computer running a P4 @ 1.6GHz. Comparing the two's noise emmitions, mine seemed like a jet. I can not currently afford to buy a Dell, but I have enough funds to get mine quieted down as to be comparable.
Overall seeking, I am looking for what kind of cooling does Dell put in their line-up?
1. Such as case/psu fan make and model. (I already know they dont put a fan to their CPU heatsink).
2. Does their motherboard chipset have a fan on them?
3. Does their video card have a fan on them?
4. Or do they use some kind of foam sound inhibitor inside their cases such as foam?
What kind of case should I get peeps, providing it is my case? While my Antec has good cooling capabilities, it seems way loud compared to my Supermicro 760A that I sold. I can afford to gain some temps for quietness... however I prefer not to get another full tower.
Thanks all
