Dell outsourcing business. an American trend

New Dell call center

I applied for the position. Most of you americans might not be very happy about this, I do not blame you I wouldn't be neighter if I were American. I do not know much about the topic. To me it seems very simple, cheaper labour, more profit.

Is it as simple as that? Or is there more to it?

It's called Americans have gotten lazy, stupid, and greedy. They want full dental, full medical, a pension, $50/hour, all for doing something a crack-addicted monkey could do after a bit of training. Other countries have people willing to work for wages that are more appropriate for the job, hence the jobs go there.

It's not SO bad to Canada because you guys are closely tied to our economy (you're essentially americans) and you speak (fairly 😉) comprehensible english.

sounds like a good move

indian call centers made all their customer mad. in order to keep their customers happy, a cheaper, english speaking canadian work force is the next logical answer. bottom is, it's still cheaper than US labor.

So does this mean the next time I'm frustrated at Dell tech support I can call them hosers and tell them their beer sucks?

Comcast has canadian technical support. I really don't mind canadian support. It's the middle east support that kills me. It's like they are trained to read the screen in front of them and that is it. They should just have a robot read you answers. The robot would understand english about as good as the guys in the middle east and we can probably understand the robot better.

for those of you who dont like dell support, just spend a few for $ and get Gold Support you get a tech in Round Rock TX or a tech in Tennessee they have a 2min SLA "Service Level Agreement" for picking up the phone and you get one ph# that gets you into the Gold Support Queue.

I have been on the phones for quite some time. 5 years to be exact. Doing both technical support and customer service, including online chat support and E-mail support for various clients. I find that Americans are harder to deal with than Europeans AND Canadians. And by Americans I do not mean American natives, I mean people calling from American. They are very impatient and demanding. Why is that?

Because there are 300 million of us and the worst ones call tech support?
