Dell Outlet Refurbs

KK

Lifer
Anyone have any experience with buy refurbs computers from dell? I just picked a XPS 410 C2D 6300 from them. A new system spec'd out like this one would have ran just under 1000, but this one was just over 600. It arrived here yesterday and it was packaged just like a new computer. The computer itself looked new, booted it up and the harddrive must have been re-imaged as it started from stratch. So far I'm impressed.

Dell Outlet Refurbs are spectacular. I've ordered a few systems from them for friends and family, and they've all looked brand new and have run great. Having the full warranty on them also rocks.

I just ordered one for my mom last week so I hope it works as well as yours. She has no need for dual core but I couldn't resist for $380. 😀

Got a link and specs?

Yeah, I figured the c2d haven't been out too long so how bad could it be. Now a laptop refurb, I'd be more leary of. anybody try them for their laptops?

I hear the refurbs are good all around. The New in box (returned, unopened) and the opened and returned are usually great. The Scratched/dented ones can be hit or miss.

If a Dell has been shipped and never opened it is sold as a refurb. Also some computers arrive DOA due to manufacturing defect or shipping abuse then those are repaired and sold as refurb. Other outlet computers may have been used or leased then exchanged.

Go to support.dell.com and check the service tag number in the Warranty Information section before buying a computer from the outlet.

Not handy; it got e-mailed to my mom. Just go in their refurb section, do a search by price, and check out the $300-$400 stuff. I believe the system was a Pentium D 805, 2x512 MB RAM, 80 GB HDD, DVD+-RW, and a floppy drive.

Ya, it was like new. Schmoove deals can be had. Call tech support to get the windows CD's right away (if not included).

The computer I'm using now is a Dell Refurb Dimension 8300. It was a top-of-the-line PC when I bought it in August 2003 for $1100 and it's been great.

I got a Latitude D410 off of the outlet in Sept, 2006 for around $250 less than retail. I honestly couldn't tell one difference between it and a new laptop. Not even a dead pixel. One of the best 'deals' that I've gotten myself, IMHO.

I've purchased several for my husband's company and one or two for personal use. Never had a problem.

I just bought five notebooks from Dell Outlet about 2 weeks ago. Four b130's and one 1505.
They were all dressed up really well. 15.4 widesceens, 3 had 1gb ram, all had dvd/rw, wireless, 40, 60, or 80GB HDD's.
The 1505 was a core2duo. The 1300's were 1.6Ghz Celeron M's, iirc.
I paid an average of $412.00 for them.
I gave the 1505 to my daughter for xmas. It was a gorgeous, sexy little laptop. Silent and perfect. 1 year warranty.
I've bought right around 60 computers from Dell Outlet and have only had one dud. Dell replaced it with a better model.

I bought my Dell 8300 refurb with no problems, and bought two laptops earlier this year with no problems. I'll probably get another Dell through the Outlet if I want to get a "new" system.

Have picked up three desktops and two laptops that way. All three desktops have been top notch, and one of the laptops was excellent. One of them had a hardware issue with the network adapter and I returned it.

No problems here either though it has been a while. Do they still come with a one year warranty?

Yeah but you can upgrade at checkout. It was only $100 or $150 to go to 3-year for my mom's systems so I figured that would be worth it since I'm not around to fix her stuff.
