dell order price change

I ordered a laptop from dell and now I see it is $50 cheaper. Normally I would just say oh well, but being that I placed the order less than 48 hours ago and the laptop won't ship for another 10 days, I would like the discount.

Now I have already tried to cancel the order (so I can reorder it at the lower price) and they said they could not cancel it. They said to just return it after I get it. Why would they want to pay for shipping (shipping was free) for something that will just be returned to them? Also, they said not to refuse delivery, because it would take longer for them to credit me which seems bogus.

Anyone have a similar experience? Any ideas?

Have you by chance talked to a CSR?

yes, first I did in the chat, and then she gave me a number to call and the guy said he could not cancel it

Tell them to PM or you will cancel the order. If they don't agree to cancel, refuse delivery and file a complaint with the CC company.

File a complaint with the CC company because he ordered a product and now doesn't like the price?

Not ethical but it might work.

Can't you just refuse the laptop? I would call another CSR and explain the situation. I've had something similar happen to me and to make everyone happy the CSR gladly matched the price to prevent dell having to pay all of the extra shipping charges.

😕 No they are not.

Dell's policy actually allows you to return a laptop with in the first month if unsatisfied for any reason. Once you have possession of the laptop, tell them you wish to exercise your right to return the laptop. They will give you your $50.

If you want to keep them they are. A little good customer service goes a LONG way.

Sorry, but for $50 it just isn't worth the hassle w/ Dell. Been there, done that. I want my time back.

QFT.

Just take delivery, threaten to return it. Otherwise you're just arguing with some poor slob in a developing country for hours.

why dont you just call the CSR... your order hasnt shipped yet and ask for a refund of the price difference??? wtf would you CANCEL the order and order it again...

the return address on the delivery package and the actual returns place are different. that is very common. it's why it takes longer for the credit to appear.

call until one does. they will do this sort of thing if you get the right person. my mom upgraded a vostro deal a month ago when the deal stayed at one price but the system had upgrades the next day...they even gave her free shipping on top of it.

just call until a CSR will give you the $50 or cancel and reorder for you.

He has informed the company to cancel his order, he hasn't accepted delivery of the order, and now has an unauthorized charge on his account.

Total BS. The charge WAS authorized at the time of the purchase. That's like saying "hey, you can borrow my car" then turn around reporting it stolen. He admits to ordering the product. DUH - You're an idiot.

The reason they can't just cancel the order is it's already in production. They very well just can't go stop a production line for every asshole that decides they don't want their order because of a price change a few days later. That would be an absolute manufacturing nightmare.

unfortunately what you think and what the CC company will do are different things.
