Anyone seen one of these up close?

DELL OPTIPLEX SX-260

These really look small.

They have a PCMCIA interface and come in P4 models.

DELL is the first big OEM to make really small desktops.

Yep. We have several in our library at school. They are really nice.

I especially like the fact that they accept Latitude/Inspiron modular bay devices, so you can just hot swap a DVD, CDRW, HD, ZIP or even a floppy.

My boss was going to get one for his new computer, but he wanted multimonitor support, and this machine (actually SX-270 is the new one now) can only support 1. Also, it doesn't have any PCI expansion slots, not even 1 low-profile one. But on the other hand, I think it looks cool and was designed nicely.

The place where I work is starting to order those as well.

They do look nice, and really save space. There are plenty of USB ports on the back to hook up external devices to compensate for the lack of internal expansion capability. An interesting thing about them is that they hook up to an external AC adapter for power supply, that's how they get to be so small, I guess :)

I wouldn't be surprised if they are just modded laptops, but I believe the new SX270 uses the 865 Chipset, so I guess not...
