I was just given a old POS (Point Of Sale) computer with a touch screen LCD
the computer is a Dell Optiplex GX280. The computer I was given is the Small Form-Factor Computer
The computer uses DDR2 and an LGA 775 CPU. It currently has a Celeron D 325 installed. I want to know what is the max LGA 775 CPU that this Dell will accept? Also can I put in a CPU with 64-Bit instructions or am Ilimited to 32-Bit? The chipset is Intel's Grantsdale

Thanks

Probably the best thing to do would be to contact Dell's support. Even though that unit is well past the EOL date, they will probably still answer simple questions like CPU support for the motherboard.

However, IIRC, the Celeron D is a 64-bit CPU. Intel likes to call it EMT64 rather than x86-64 or even x64, so if you run CPU-Z and see EMT64 listed alongside MMX, SSE, etc, then it's a 64-bit CPU. Though that motherboard might well be limited to 4GB or less RAM wise, so there'd really be no point.

Here is a log of the CPU-Z page. I don't see EMT64 anywhere on that page or in the instruction set
(This is a log I generated from the actual Dell GX280)

the addressing bus is only 32 bit wide so yeah.
