Does anyone have any experiencing pushing this model pc beyond it's limits? I'm having a hard time figuring out which motherboard is actually in this machine. This is as much as I find on the Dell support site.

**System Information **

System chip set Intel 440BX PIIX4e
Data bus width 64 bits
Address bus width 32 bits
DMA channels seven
Timers three
Interrupt levels 15
Flash EPROM (BIOS) 2 Mb
BIOS source Dell
NIC controller chip optional integrated 3Com® PCI 3C905B-TX Wakeup On LAN NIC, operating at 10 or 100 Mbps
I/O controller chip National PC87309

It only gives the chipset but not the actual motherboard model. Is the chipset information enough to determine whether or not this board will accept a 800 or 850mhz chip? I've heard that as long as its a 100mhz fsb that it should work with a 440bx. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately, you will have to find out the motherboard model and BIOS version compatibility.

While the 440BX chipset can support a P3/Celeron up to 1.1GHz, its limited by motherboard design and BIOS compatibility.
You may find that early motherboards with this chipset will not support a P3 higher than 550MHz, have support for only non-coppermine based CPU's, or if you are lucky support anything up to 1.1GHz.
