Both of these monitors have been recently reduced to $239, which I think is a pretty good price. I was just wondering which you guys think are better. I've read the reviews on the Dell site, and it seems like people think the E228 is better. But the SP2208 has a faster response time and better contrast ratio, and what appears to me to be a sleeker design. What do you guys think?

Actually the dell sp2008 is down to 217 right now.

Just my personal preference, but I usually stay away from 22" because nearly all are TN panels. TN=Lowest grade/cheapest.

Stick to 20",24",30" LCD's.

the sp2008wfp is 20", if i'm not mistaken. isn't the sp2208wfp a 22"? i think the op is referring to the former.

the e228 is a "budget" panel vs. the sp2008wfp which is "not". that's how dell wants to spin it anyway. the sp2008wfp has some nice features but i am all but positive that it's a TN panel, which isn't quite as good as the alternatives. i think they have a 22" ultrasharp 2008 panel that might be a non-TN panel. i might just be wrong, though. (radiohead? anyone?)

there's some even cheaper TN panels at the 20" widescreen size you might wanna consider. check out viewsonic or samsung for a few example names.

i'm not quite up to speed with the new lcds, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

cheers--

Yes sorry I meant the SP2208. A lot of the reviews I've read since asking this here, were saying text on that monitor was terrible. Since text is mainly what I was going to use it for I don't think I could go with that one. I would prefer to go with a 24" setup, but the price difference for getting 2 24" vs. 2 22" is kind of bigger than I'd like to pay up for. I wish I could get a 30", that's the truth. A 30" has close to as much screen real estate as 2 22", but is nearly 4 times the price of the 22"s

Yeah the 24" and 30" are expensive, but really its expensive for a very good reason.

Much Higher res, Much better panel.
