Dell Monitor Beeping At Me

I got a deal on a computer at work, an Optiplex 745 that came with a little 17" flat panel. The strange thing is that when I plug it in there are a series of high pitched beeps coming from the monitor itself. There is no light on the monitor to suggest that it's turned on either. Even when I unplug the monitor from the computer and just plug it into the wall it does the same thing, no amber light, nothing, just a series of high pitched little beeps. Used to work at the office a while back. Is it DOA? Should I sight in my shot gun with it?
