hi i have a dell inspiron 910 (mini 9). It has a broadcom 802.11g adapter. I am getting piss poor performance from the wifi 802.11b network at my house. all the other computers and laptops work fine on it. It says i have a strong signal, yet packetloss and data transmission is pathetic. It takes 2 minutes to load msn.com
If i plug an ethernet cord directly into the router, it loads msn in 5 seconds. Wifi works on all other wireless devices in the house. Ive tried updateing the drivers to the broadcom part in the mini 9, but havent gotten good performance yet.
solutions ive seen on teh webz are change the channel of the router, disable power saving modes of the network adapter, disable the firewall on the mini9 (which i dont want to do), or unplug and replug in the antenna to the wifi card in the laptop.
does anyone know why im having bad performance? I am yet to test on a wifi g, n, a or wimax. hopefully i dont have issues on those networks as well.
thank you for reading
