Dell mini 10v screen resolution fix

This is one I hadn't seen before. My daughter's mini 10v's screen resolution had gone from 1028x600 to 1028x728. This makes the taskbar inaccessible. Only screen resolutions available were 1028x728 and 800x600.

She has the latest Intel graphics driver and mini 10v bios. Even the bios screen was cut off on the bottom. Searching the internet I found many who had the same problem but no solution. It appeared to be a hardware problem.

The problem was a loose video cable. It had somehow worked it's way out slightly on one side. After fully seating it the resolution was back to 1028x600.

To access the video cable, first remove the battery, then 3 screws on the back that hold the keyboard, and with a cc or something similar pry the keyboard up. Flip the keyboard over. You do not have to remove the keyboard cable. The video cable is located on the upper right side.
