I picked up a dell micro 3050 from delloutlet last week when they had a sale going on, they had a 40% coupon and I picked up the j2900 version with 2gb ram and 32gb ssd for $177 shipped.

I have been messing around with it, upgraded the ram to 8gb even before turning it on. very snappy and works great as a TV box. It is replacing a Dell Zino 410 with dedicated video, 8gb ram and 2.6ghz dual core amd phenom mobile chip. every day to day use cant tell a difference. Netflix, youtube, facebook and flash games/facebook games, school home work (office apps) no difference. granted no dvd drive, but the tv it is hooked to we never watched DVD on the Zino 410 anyways.

I did order the sata cable off ebay (the hp m7 envy cable) and plan on installing a 256mb ssd I have here. as everyone knows 32gb drive storage sucks and only have 12gb free. Not bad for a tv box, but extra space is always nice, homework and pictures will be downloaded on it, rather be safe than run out of space.

compared to the HP mini (which I don't own), the 3050 does have only one memory slot and not two like the HP, but for what it gets used for, 8gb ram is plent for me. One item of significance, in the box with the 3050 was an 8gb usb recovery drive with windows 10. Only unwanted software installed on it was mcafee and trial version of office.

just my little mini review. bottom line, I like it
