Dell's support right now (and their website)...is really big time CRAP. I have complained on the phone, via email, via snail mail. Try configuring a PC online through their site. The site should be used in a web-site development intro class for students to list 10-15 things not to do...their whole site design, is done by a 15-16 year old who is just learning about the web. You'd think a seller of PCs would have a decent working site, jesus...the money's gone to them. They don't even sell AMD chipset PCs, my dad still believes since Dell doesn't sell AMD - AMD must be terrible...sigh. Anyways, my dad has a 19" Dell NON trinitron monitor, and to him and I, there is only a slight curvature and I personally would have no problem using it. It's just to me the flat screen is nicer...but the non flat Dells are still very low on curvature, and those 2 lines can get to you if you keep thinking about them!
You will save some cash with the non flat I do believe, you can get 10% off in the accessories store..let's see that would be, new Dell M991 dark gray cabinet:
$310 - 10% off = $280. If it suits you, purchase! I'm at 17" right now so I wanted to make a large leap to 21". I'm hoping the footprint isn't too large, or I may need a new desk...I just can't wait to try out Counterstrike/quaek2 and hopefully get used to the dizziness. I know games like age of empires 2, and the like will look fully awesome on a 21"..Drool.
My dad has a 19" non flat, (maybe it's this M991 in beige?) but it is giving 100 HZ at 1024 resolution. That leads me to believe it's giving less at higher resolutions, or maybe his Riva TNT2 does not push a high refresh? What do ya think? I'll go look up TNT2 refresh max specs now..but I hope these monitors can push more. Maybe this is what is different in Sony's marked and Dell's marked Trinitrons...refresh rate is higher in Sony's! Argh if so.
