Dell Lost my laptop and replaced it with a Refurb

So I got an RMA to send in my laptop and they sent airborne with a box. My wife placed the computer in the box and then handed it to the airborne guy.

That was last friday

Dell today told me that I needed to send it in. I told them I had and after about 45 minutes oin the phone they said they would need to call me back.

Am I totally hosed?

UPDATE 5/1/2005 - Ok Laptop was received on Monday HOWEVER they can not get parts it would seem. Parts and not in stock and they don't know when they will arrive. I have to call on Monday and talk with a rep to find out. The parts were odered oin 4/26 but they cannot tell me when OR if they will arrive.

UPDATE 5/6/2005 - Ok So I got through and my Laptop is officially LOST. They are sending me a replacement system and I should get it next week. It will be the same he said as my old insperion 8100. - any one have experence with this?

UPDATE 5/13- Unit is on the fed ex truck for delivery and I should have it when I get home. I will post what I get when I get home.

UPDATE 5/13 PM - Ok I got a insperon 6000 with 256 MB of Ram. I am going to give it the once over when I get home. But I will need to call as I need to have a floppy as well as 512MB of ram. IT is a refurb BUT it has a FULL ONE YEAR warrenty.

update 5/14 - I PM'd the guy I bought the laptop from and he checked his dell account and NOW we have the INVOICE HERE IT IS IN ALL OF IT"S PDF GLORY!!! according to dell the laptop is $1800 :D:D:D:D:D:D

Well, there should be record of it. If they accepted it, they should have record of it in their system.

They did not leave a reciept.

I am totally pissed and dell assured me they would call by the end of the day and I have no call yet.

Don't fret, they will replace your laptop. It should be failry easy to take it up with the Airborne, driver should have the record of the pickup.

I sent a laptop in to Dell and they took it to the wrong facility, where it was "lost" for about 6 days. I did eventually get the piece of crap back with an alleged new motherboard

You didn't get the carbom copy of the shipping label or something that at least had the tracking number on it or anything like that?
