Dell LCD flat panel monitors

It always seems like Dell has great deals of LCD flat panels, and judging from how they make (read: rebrand) other peripherals like keyboards and cases, you would think that the monitors are equally as good.

What do you guys think about 'em? Is there like a Samsung or other brand that is the same model that they sell, but cheaper since it doesn't have the prestige of an expensive 'Dell' badge on it?

Thanks for humoring me, I'm seriously thinking about ordering one for myself, but I really don't wanna be hornswoggled.

Sometimes, when I think everything in the world around me is ugly, I just sit and stare at my Dell 2407 and it reminds me there are, indeed, still beautiful things in this world.

They aren't rebadged Samsungs. Dell contracts another company to do the work and typically they include Samsung TFTs, but that's about it. They generally use Genesis DSPs. Despite being a "generic" company, Dell has some of the best LCDs.

Yeah, I do work for Alienware and they gave me an alienware/dell employee discount. The original price is $669.99 dollars or around that and with discount, it ended up to $255 dollars. Not only that I bought but also a pair of ddr2 pc6400 1gb for $45 bucks, geforce 7900 256mb for $100 bucks, logitech mx 5000 for $54 dollars and logitech 5450 digital speaker system for $100 dollars and the last one but at least creative sound augdity 4 7.1 pro for $133 dollars.

Geez, that's a killer price for a 2407. OP, yes, Dell makes a quality flat panel. They aren't always on the leading edge of every technology, because they are priced to sell, but they are good units. I have a 2405 that I still love the look of after 8 months.

hahahaaha! Awesome! Thanks for your suggestions, guys. That was really helpful. Sounds like they actually are pretty good deals.

I'll probably have to get myself one. Holy crap, my boy Matrix has the HOOKUP!

Is Alienware and Dell in cahoots with each other?

Another Dell fanboi here. I've had two Dell lcd's, 1901FP and a 2001FPW. Loved them both. No problems, dead pixels or otherwise, with either of them. I have heard of problems with some of the Dell lcd's having a bleed through issue which is really apparent when looking at a darker image or a black screen. I think my 2001FPW might have a little of this, but it's not that noticeable. The people who had major issues with this have had some difficulty dealing with Dell, but for the most part Dell has either refunded their money or repalced the monitor for them. So over all, I gotta say can't go wrong with Dell.

You suck!! :p Sweet perks you have there. I'll put in my  for Dell also. I just replaced my 2001fp with a 2407fpw. They're both excellent displays that are priced very well.

I haven't had a good experience with Dell...I've had 5 different LCD's from them (all from one RMA) ...their 17" TFT series...and all of them power will not stay on. They go into power save mode and won't wake up. And I've tried this on about 5 different PC's with various DVI/VGA cords so i dunno.. I don't trust Dell. Then again I sold one of the originals I had before all the problems started to a friend and he hasn't had any trouble. But my problem was a widespread problem for many..I just couldn't fix mine at all.

2005FPW - Best computing purchase I've made in a long time. I see a second one in my future as dual monitors are awesome. Too bad I'll have to buy it used, and the 2007FPW seem to have issues.
