I swapped my T2600 with a T7600 and all went well but man, taking the old compound off was like chipping away at cement. I have seen companies put alot on but man this was crazy. Anyone else notice this? Seems to be doing well with AS5 on it too.

I think it's a form of epoxy. Dell seems to use awful thermal paste.

AS5 is good stuff though - I've used Ceramique with good results, but that's just because I'm paranoid about shorting things.

Be careful with AS5 and removing it later. It dries and stays VERY stuck. If you have to remove it later, run the notebook and max the CPU for a while to heat the compound up; or just use a hairdryer.
