Dell Latitude D800 Hard Drive Gets Hot!

I don't know if this is normal or not but my Dell D800's 5400rpm hard drive gets hot after normal usage. It's not so hot that I'll burn myself but touching it but I can't exactly put the laptop on my lap (unless I put it on a pillow on my lap). It leaves a "hot spot" on my bed or desk or what not. I even bought a "large mousepad" (it's really large and my whole laptop can fit on it) and that absorbed some of the heat. However, I still don't know if this is normal or not.
