recently aquired a Dell C840 Latitude? (did i spell that right?)

am having trouble with drivers. the IEEE1394 "firewire" port
and "PCI to Cardbus Bridge"
both show toruble in the device manager.

i dont think the drivers are on the Dell driver page for this machine..
also tried some drivers from driverguide.com no luck yet.

does anyone have the OEM setup disc for this laptop?

Go to the dell support page and put in the service tag number and it will load the page with all the drivers that the laptop shipped with.

yes i did ...i installed all of the drivers available on the Dell page for this model.
do you think the 1394 driver is in that package?
i read that it was a Texas Instruments device.

I never thought that the IEEE1394 port is controlled by a separate driver. I would imagine that it would have been covered by installing the chipset driver. Have you tried to let Windows find the driver on its own?

after email to a guy selling one , he told me WinXP SP2 had those drivers. Got myself an winXP SP2 disk and
all is well now.
I just assumed the Dell support drivers would have handled it.
thx.
