First thing I uninstall on any pre built computer in the support utilities. They serve no real purpose.

Technically it is supposed to update but in my experience this program hasn't been that great and the auto update and updating features don't work very consistently.
I tend to keep it around because it is a good way to check for and download driver updates instead of having to do it all manually.

Mine didn't.

After seeing this thread last night, and I ran Support Assist on my laptop, and then it notified me there was an update. I then had to tell it to update.

Folks on here most likely won't need this but for that tech-clueless friend/relative you don't feeling like dealing with personally it works well and is fairly idiot-resistant.
