Dell laptop won't resume from standby

700M goes into standby fine, but when you resume from standby the power light goes solid and you can hear the HD spinning up, yet the screen stays black and the laptop is unresponsive. Only way to get back into windows is to hold down the power button until it dies then reboot.

I Googled it and found something on the Dell forums about it, but none of the suggested solutions fixed it.

Running the latest version of everything.

Common Dell problem. We have 3 that does the same thing. They don't all do that. I would see if Dell will take the unit back and replace it.

I had the same problem with my XPS2 that dissapeared after a format. Must have been a power management conflict.

So it's not a software fix? Actual problem with the notebook?

It's both - also a Windows problem. There are two functions I never use on my laptops - standby and hibernate. This is an age old problem not just with Dell. I first ran into it 12 years ago with a SoundBook.
