I'm guessing this would be the best forum (I don't think fs/ft would like it since its kind of like a service) for this but if any mod's deem it unacceptable then please delete.

Ok here is the deal, I've talked to a metal sculptor ( Heath Satow www.publicsculpture.com) and he is going to make new dell badges for me and others interested. The badge I'm talking about is this one from the top of the laptop

You can select from several designs to be placed in the center of it or a custom design. The badges should fit dell inspirion 1100, 600m, and I would assume others(if you have another model email me so we can check if it will fit) It looks like the price will end up being around $15 each(more for custom logo in the center).

Here is an example of a Sager badge he has done as well as the designs you can chose from. If you would like one of these badges contact me ASAP he would like to get them cut before Christmas.

email me if you would like one so that i can let him know the number we need and what to put in the center of each

Yeah they already have a badge like that, difference is with the new one you can pick what logo it has in the center.

I'm not sure what im going to go with yet soybomb I'm leaning towards #26 or #42 right now.

10 11/16" long
3/8" wide at the ends
2" wide at circle part

That's not what I was saying, though void warranty is almost assured in this case. What I was saying is that it is not permissible for anyone to reproduce the brand name without holder's content. In other words, whoever makes those badges is doing so illegaly, unless they have a written permission from Dell.

I dont think they are reproduceing the brand. I think they are replacing the brand name.
Although there was that apple logo, ati logo etc. hmmmmm
Who owns the radioactive logo....

As far as legalities go I am not a lawyer but I see your point, I dont think replacing the badge would be an issue but using the ati, alienware, quake, halflife logos could be. I'm not making them so I have no idea if he asked anyone's permission to uses those logos or not.

My part in the whole thing was my dell badge got caught on something(laptop bag I think) and the corner bent a little. Dell offered to fix it if I sent it in but that meant downtime for something that's pretty trivial so I started looking for a sticker or something to put in place of it for now and if something else went wrong I could have the badge replaced then. That's when I came across this guys sager badges, they looked pretty nice so I figured why not ask about making a one for my dell. He said yeah and ask around if there are others because the laser cutting costs quite a bit so if others liked the idea he wanted to cut them all at once.
