Dell Laptop memory

I need to buy more memory for my dad's laptop.
Dell wants to charge an arm and leg for OLD ram.

Any other good spots for lappy memory?

The model is Inspiron 5000e with 800mhz cpu. It currently uses 2x64MB Ram. He needs to use it for Itunes and Wine database software (for his huge wine room). Thats it, other than that it is a dust gathering lappy.

I would if the bus speed on his lappy was 133, it only 100. I read it isn't backward compatible.

AFAIK, it depends on the motherboard and RAM and is not universally so. I've found Crucial to be very reliable regarding its compatibility claims.

PC133 in the same organization as PC100 will work 99% of the time. Get the Crucial if you want guaranteed compatibility.

The last sentance says 133 is not backward compatible.

Note the "this" in the sentence in your link: "This PC133 Module is not backward compatible with PC100 Machines." I used to have an Inspiron 4000 and 256MB sticks had to have 16 chips to be compatible, and PC133 sticks had only 8. It would work only with PC100, but not all laptops are that way.

If Crucial's configurator says that a particular stick is compatible, why not try it? I'd be shocked if they wouldn't take it back if it turned out not to be.
