Buddy gave me his laptop to see if I could fix....

It wouldnt even turn on... so i popped the battery out tried to do that.. nope no dice.... pulled hd, memory, etc out to see if it would post even... nope...

So i was reading online alot of the ac adapter jack piece going to the MB fails... so I ordered one... Installed it today... still the same thing happens... totally stumped...

I noticed when i plugged the power brick in... it gives me a green light... when I plug it into the back of the laptop port... it goes away....

So I tried to swap it back out... same thing... any suggestions.. clues..

Thanks

Either the motherboard has issues, or the AMD E-450 CPU is cooked..

Burpo:

I must say its very odd, that I have never seen a power adapter go from green to nothing when plugged into the laptop... odd

Probably a stupid question, but it isn't clear from your post: you tried to swap the AC adapter jack, but did you try to swap out the AC adapter?

Also, some Dell laptops can be very picky about working with OEM power adapters, so if you get another one make sure to get one known to work with that model of Dell laptop.
