Dell Laptop Latitude c840 question

Plug in an external monitor and see if you get video.

Use a different stick of ram.

Open it up and disconnect all the drives, see if it boots.

Swap out the cpu and see if it boots.

If these things don't work, then the motherboard would have to be replaced, which won't be cheap. Depending on how much you have to pay, it may not be worth it since Dell usually has a special on a basic laptop that is decently equipped for $449.
