sounds like a great deal, but i ordered something similar last week (one of their day of deals sale) and was very disappointed when i got it. it was one of the ugliest looking laptops i'd seen. I returned it today and will probably end up paying 15% restocking fee. So go for it only if you're really really sure you're okay with how it looks..
It almost looked like they were trying to do a powerbook for under 900 bucks... wont happen.

The Inspiron 6000-series has been around for 2 years. The appearance, and for the most part, internals as well, are all identical within the series. If you were dumb enough to buy a laptop thats been around 2 years, has sold 195,000 units and is probably owned by someone you know, then your an idiot for not at least looking at it first. I never buy anything before I see it. It's very easy to get ahold of any dell model just to look at and possibly pickup and feel.

Try an internet cafe, people ask to just look at my notebook all the time when I'm as starbucks, I have a 700m. It's a piece of ****** because it has defects that have led to it being replaced by the 710m, but the appearance, weight/size and screen make up for the defective microphone input and such.

A little courtesy and respect goes a long ways.

You are lucky that the AT cruise schedule for the SS Garbage Scow is currently booked.

If there is a cancelation, you will be informed.

Hahahaha, I was going to say the same thing. Only an idiot would not look at what he's buying beforehand. I have the Inspiron 6000 and I'm pretty happy with it. I loved my old Latitude D500 but the Insp. has served me well.

Geez people, go easy on the guy. It's his first post. No need to call him names. Maybe there's a better way to get your point across. If we start calling new posters idiots off the bat, were not going to have many new posters, Remember courtesy:

What about COURTESY?

No thread crapping. If the subject matter of a deal does not interest you, do not post negative comments about it, or about other members, in the thread.

Maybe you got one of the B series laptops? I haven't seen those in person, but I hope they're not that ugly since I ordered one for someone last night.

man, i hate javascript buttons! firewall at work blocks it and I can never "add to cart" on so many of these hot deals 🙁 🙁 /cry

hey samus,
hope u got the message from mods loud and clear. Dont want to waste my time and energy on your message. I created an account just to post the message so that people will take a second look before ordering it so that they dont have to return it like I did. I've owned a Inspiron 8000 before and Thinkpad R50 and T42s since, and this one is nothing like an 8000. Whats with that white plastic band around the laptop - its ugly to say the least. Anyways, the way it looks goes with individual taste - AND THAT WAS MY POINT. Its not true that everybody (including you) orders things online only after touching and feeling it. This laptops configuration is good, but its design is in bad taste.

The laptop "looks" doesn't make it perform better or make the web pages you look at look any better so you may as well get the best deal you can get because all laptops basically have the same design from the outside anyways.

I'm in need of a laptop for an associate in a hurry (in hospital), how long did it take Dell to ship yours? I mean, order date (early in the day, say) to received with their 3-5 day shipping option (now free for some(?) models)?

If you know of someplace else that can get it in my hands faster, please mention this, though I've had good luck with Dells and would prefer one (but truthfully, I'm not the one who'll be stuck using it so fast is more important than Dell ATM, LOL). I'm backlogged with some work or else I'd just spend the time and buy it locally, so online purchase is the answer I think.
