Hello,
My father recently fried his Dell Inspiron 8100's motherboard by getting it wet.
Does anyone know if the Inspiron 8000 mobos are compatible?
Dell is asking 900 for a replacement part.
Thanks

an 8100 motherboard is different than a 8000 motherboard in that it uses an updated chipset that fully supports speedstep. the 8000 motherboard is a desktop chipset in a laptop form, so speedstep is supported through a BIOS hack 🙂
the 8100 should be able to take the 8000 motherboard...but you're loosing some of the features of a true mobile chipset.
