Dell Laptop help

Hey i have a Dell laptop (not sure on the model number cuz its not at my house right now) and everything seems to work except that the monitor is displaying the screen at a super small resolution (just a 4inch by 3 inch size). Anyways I was wondering if any of you knew of an unoffical dell laptop/ computer site where I could get more information on the hardware specs for the various laptops so I could fix it myself.

check to see if it's in docked or undocked hardware profile. usually when it's docked, it'll display small with plenty of black around it. plug a monitor into the back and it's fine. undocked, it'll use the whole janx.
