Dell Laptop Cannot See HardDrive

I have a Dell Latitude CPx that after hooking up the charging cable can no longer see the harddrive. I go into setup and it shows no hard drive and will not let me choose one.

What happened, and how can I fix this problem?

Incidentally, in setup, it does show the laptop charging and is at about 50% power.

Is the drive listed in the bios when you boot the computer up?
Is the drive listed in Device Manager?

Access Device Manager by right-clicking My Computer, select Properties, select the Hardware Tab, and select the Device Manager button.
There should be a Disk Drives entry with your drive listed within it.

The Dell diagnostics may help.
