Dell Inspiron Motherboards

Hello,
My father recently fried his Dell Inspiron 8100's motherboard by getting it wet.
Dell is asking $900 for replacement/repair.
Does anyone know if the Inspiron 8000 mobos are compatible?
I'm thinking they are the same.

ummmm... I dont know about the mobo compatibility... but you definatly aint getting a dell!

The 8200 and 8100s have some parts commonality -- some (like video cards, HDD, optical drives, mini-PCI). Check eBay; I've seen new mobos go for <$500.
