Dell Inspiron LCD - dead PC, good LCD. How can I use?

I've got a dead Dell Inspiron 7000, but I'm pretty sure the LCD is still in perfect shape. The PC got zapped (along with many other things) by a lightning strike.

Has anyone successfully taken the LCD off of a notebook pc and used it on a regular PC? Any ideas if it uses a regular DVI connector, or can be hacked to be a TV monitor?

I'll be taking the PC apart sometime in the next week or two, but if this has already been tried unsuccessfully I won't waste my time.

Thanks!

Probably the best thing to do is to try and sell the LCD, since many people have a good laptop but bad panel. It's not practical to use the laptop LCD as a stand alone monitor, it does not have a standard interface or power supply.

Many people have posted this question over the past year, and I have not heard of a single person successfully transorming a laptop LCD into a regular monitor.

I have a dead HP5125 (freakin air conditioner busted and dripped water onto the laptop). I'm pretty sure the LCD is fine on my too.

I have no want to make this into a stand alone monitor, but I did want to string together a new laptop. Does anybody know where I can get PARTS for a laptop. Such as motherboard, video card, power supply etc. Or where I should sell this LCD if I can't get it working again.

It seems like such a waste for this beautiful 12" screen. I've got to do something with it.

Typically you can only get that stuff from the original manufacturer. You don't even want to know the prices....ouch!

You could sell the stuff on fleabay or the FS/FT forums here.
