Dell Inspiron dvd drive trouble

Someone in my dorm has a Dell inspiron laptop that's not reading any cds/dvds. When putting in either, the cd drive shows it like a blank disc, 0 bytes on the cd. All the drivers are updated, could it be hardware trouble? I've only been around computers for 2 years, any help would be appreciated 🙂

Get rid of any and all Roxio software installed on the PC. A bunch of the Roxio crap comes factory pre-installed on the Dell Inspirons and is a complete nightmare POS.

I had the same issue quite a while back and getting rid of the Roxio stuff worked for me.
