Dell Home has a deal on

Dell Inspiron 9200 Notebook

Feb dell catalog is showing the 9200 as "while supplies last".

So good price but probably discontinued soon to make way for the 9300.....

Just did a configuration and with 2yrs support was more than a system yesterday on the EPP site with 3 years support. So good deal if you don't have EPP but if you do and you want some support look at EPP first (yesteday EPP discount was 15% special +12% standard discount +$160 coupon).

Hp has this for 1349.00 similar to the 9200 but with nicer screen and better video card- what do think?
w\ no interest for 1 year.
But it doesn't have a Pentium M t

Slight typo on the deal as all i9200's come with "128 meg" ATi mr9700's.

That is the everyday price using Dell small biz, after discounts. (all are eligible)
Bought this Dec 30th, and have checked price every couple days to see if I should return within the 21 days.

Every couple days there is a new deal, but end price is always the same (+/- $20)

System I paid $1349 for included free upgrade to 60 gig, 128 meg 9700, free upgrade to 512 meg, DVD, then I paid $100 extra for 1.8GHz, and another $29 for 1350 wireless G. total $1478 free delivery.

Yep, it cost me $159 extra to get 60gig, and 1.8 GHz cpu, plus better wireless G (afterburner enabled). But point is, Dell has no deals, just new numbers games they play.
Same price for past 4 weeks.

Based on i9300 spec rumors it looks to be an addition to the Insipon line, and the upper end model will replace the XPS, but the basic i9300 will be much slower than the basic I9200 due to crap graphics in the -9300 low end model. i9200 will fit in the middle of the 17" lineup.

The HP looks nice, but is using the outdated for laptops P4, whose 2.8GHz is slower than Dothan 1.6GHz PM for everyday apps, and much slower for gaming, has much lower battery life, runs much hotter and louder, and weighs more. Even though the X600 has twice the memory, the desktop version runs slower than the mr9700 runs.

What the heck? While supplies last on the i9200? I have an i9100. It was only produced for about 10 months during 2004 and was replaced by the i9200. Dell started production of the i9200 late last year and they already are closing the line down? If this is true something is very wierd here - 4 months and that's it?

Thanks Rob for the much needed insight. I'll skip the HP but I will miss the pretty bright screen 🙁
