I'd have to disagree on the last point..

I don't find it heavy at all.. it's only 6.5 - 7 lbs which really isn't that bad.

The deal isn't that great in my opinion..

I got it with those specs but with 512 mb of ram for 1100...

Weight: starting at 6.9 lbs. (2.96 kg) with travel module, 9-cell battery and hard drive.

Add Weight of Power Supply: Weight (with cables): 0.9 lbs. (0.4 kg)

Thats 7.8 lbs travel weight WITHOUT an optical drive.

Bottom line is, The Inspiron 8600 traslates to an 8 lb laptop while travelling.

Thats not too heavy for a laptop by any standards (I own a i8500), but its not light.
