Hello,
I recently purchased a dell notebook, which is an inspiron 6400. It came with 1 gig of DDR2 533 ram (2, 512mb sticks), I wanted to upgrade it to 2 gigs of ram. I purchased 2 SO-DIMMS of crucial 1gig 667 ram. Every dell site recommends I used 667 ram and you can even upgrade the ram from the purchase site to 667. The CPU is an Intel dual core T2080 @ 1.73 Ghz, and the FSB is 533. Once I installed the new ram, it would only run at 533Mhz, instead of 667. I realize that having the FSB at 533 limits the ram to 533, but why does the site always try to push 667 ram? Is there any way I can change the FSB to 667 to fully utilize the ram?
thanks-

I have been doing more research and I am still confused. I still cannot figure out if the memory can run at 667 instead of 533, someone please shed some light on if and how I can have my RAM run at 667
thanks

No, not without the cpu being overclocked.

They want you to choose 667 ram because they charge you more money for it. ;)
