Dell Inspiron 600M VS Inspiron 6000

The big diffrence between the two is the screen. The 600M has a 14.1" fullscreen, whi8le the 6000 has the 15.4" widescreen. I am mainly going to be surfing the web on it, and reading a few online books. I was wondering how websites appear on the widescreen? Would I be better off going w/ the 600M if I just mainly wanted to websurf? Any info be great.

The advantage of the widescreen in that situation is that you can have random utility junk besides the web browser.

If it is a really large widescreen you can have two pages of web next to each other.

On most laptop widescreens you cannot even put an xterm or emacs besides the browser (xterm/emacs about 500 pixels, comfty browser is 900 = 1400 = more than the 1280 that small widescreens have).

I've used both machines.
For web surfing, 600m is fine. It's fairly powerful for other apps as well and portable too.
It's an all around good laptop.
If you need more desktop space, 6000 widescreen is a plus but portability is reduced.
Personally, I think the 6000 is more a desktop replacement.

A friend of mine with the 600M hasn't had any problems at all, the only issue that we've encountered is really, really bad performance in some games like Rise of Nations. to be expected i guess though

I agree with AnyMal.. I have the 600m now and it's awesome as a work laptop. I wouldn't play any games on it, but the built in ati radeon 9000 comes in handy and > any integrated intel gfx crap ;D
