Dell Inspiron 6000 with external SATA Drive possible?

I have Dell Inspiron 6000 with 2.0Ghz.
Can i have external enclosure with SATA drive fit in it.
Will my system support or detect this HD.
Suggestion please.

They do make external enclosures that work with SATA drives, and will connect to your computer via USB or Firewire. Of course it won't run at the speed of an internal SATA connection since it will be limited by the USB/Firewire connection.
