Dell Inspiron 6000- Where to plug in ps2 mouse?!

i want to connect an external mouse to this laptop, but there's no ps2 port.

any suggestions on how to connect an external mouse?

1) Buy USB mouse
2) Buy USB-->PS/2 adapter. These usually come in the form of a splitter w/2 PS/2 ports. Go for like $30 retail, dunno about online.

There isn't a ps/2 port on the 6000 so you will have to use an USB mouse.

I'd just pickup a USB mouse if I were you. The basic logitech optical USB mouse goes for about $20 at radioshack/walmart. The adapters (which I can see from where I'm standing right now are just shy of $20 so it's not really worth going that route).

i obtained a usb/ps2 port adapter.

i attach it to my ps2 mouse, and plug the usb end into the laptop.

i rebooted. the laptop still doesnt see the mouse. (i move the mouse, but the cursor doesnt move.)

i'm using microsoft mouse v5.2 from microsoft's site.

any ideas?

I've never had luck with ps2 to usb converters. Just get a USB mouse.
