My nephew was about to ditch his Inspiron 6000 out of frustration with how slow it had become. I reinstalled windows for him and he was amazed with the performance increase. I would also like to upgrade his memory (currently 512mb) but I am unfamiliar with laptops in general and have no idea what is supported.
1. Will the Inspiron 6000 allow 2gb RAM or just 1gb?
2. Is 2gb overkill for a non-gaming rig?
3. Either way, what would be the best bang for the buck for this machine? (usage is primarily web use, and general software usage, no gaming).
I really want to help him out here but I am so out of touch with laptops, I have no idea what memory to purchase. Any suggestions in the sub $100 range would be appreciated.
