Hi, this is my first system with dual channel and all.

My motherboard is an nvidia chipset that has 4 ram slots.

2 are occupied by 512meg ddr2 667 memory chips

If I want to go to 2 gigs - I just buy another matched pair of 512's right?

I know it may sound like a basic question, but I've had an old system for the longest and never kept up with anything

Short answer - YES.

You might want to consider 2 x 1GB, for a total of 3GB. The price should be more/less the same.

Just make sure you are getting RAM with the same Voltage, Frequency and Timings.
