Dell Inspiron 4100 overheating

I just replaced my 64M memory module on my Inspiron 4100 laptop with a 256M module from Crucial. Now the laptop overheats after about 2 hours of use. I'm not positive that it's the memory, but that's the only thing that has changed recently. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing, or have any suggestions as to what I can do to try and diagnose the problem?

Thanks.

Well, I would swap out the memory for the old one and test it out. That is the only thing I could think of, though I do not see how memory would case the computer to overheat. You might want to try amdskip's suggestion of cleaning out the fan.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Now, to answer some of your questions:

I put the memory in the JDIMM1 slot (not JDIMM2).

If I need to clear out the fan, how do I do that?

Thanks again.
