Dell Inspiron 3500 (333celeron) RAM question

This model Inspiron, which i got from a friend, takes a max of 256MB SDRAM (SoDIMM of course) over 2 dimm's. Now...what is in there now is a PC66 64MB stick which works fine. When one does a memory search at Crucial, PNY or Kingston, PC100 and PC66 are recommended upgrades (128MB max per stick of course). Now, i just bought PC133 SDRAM, PNY brand, from compusa. It was the cheapest around. $35 128MB stick + $10 Conexant Power Strip + $5 Siemens NIC + $2 Memorex Mouse - $10off$50coupon - $20 PNY MIR - $10 connexant MIR - $5 siemens MIR - $2 memorex MIR = $5 not including tax...i bought 2 of them to theoretically max out the RAM. The problem is if i open them and they dont work, i have to pay a stupid 15% restock charge of like $5. SO im wondering if these sticks will work, and if possible anyone has experience with this particular laptop, or can direct me somewhere that will tell me if this will work.

On a side note, my cousins friend had me fix her laptop. I added 256MB PC133 stick of ram to it (512MB max over 2 dimms). The current one that was in there was a 64MB PC100 stick. Crucial and Kingston told me to get PC100. And at circuit city the stick i ended up getting said it was NOT backwards compatable with PC100. I put it in and it worked fine contrary to what everyone was telling me.

As far as I can tell, a higher speed memory module will always work at a slower speed. I suspect that more likely than not, the PC133 modules you purchased will work in the Inspiron 3500.

it worked...thank you very much...

my dad was like...for the cost of gas that it takes to go out to circuit city to buy ram you can test with no restock charge is how much you will pay to restock the bad ram you got from compusa. then he goes, if it doesnt work ILL PAY the restock, go open the ram. so i did and it worked.
