Dell inspiron 2650, which CPU do I have?

I have a 2650 laptop here with a miniscule 128 mb of memory, a kid owns it and it is so hogged up with spyware and adware it will barely run. He is thinking of trading it in on a desktop rig and I am trying to get an idea of what it is actually worth.

The system properties says this:

Dell INSPIRON I2650
Mobile INtel(R) Pentium(R)
4-M CPU 1.80 GHz
1.2GHZ
128Mb or Ram

Now what processor does this have, a 1.8 or a 1.2 GHz? There is no way I can run CPUz, sisoft or everest, it starts loading up a bunch of adware and stalls out because of the lack of memory.

Thanks!

Any idea what this is worth? it will probably need a battery, and definitely more memory and a reinstall of XP, but the owner doesn't have the disks, there is a COA on the bottom of it though. Cosmetically it is in very nice shape, the LCD is in good condition.

The problem is I cannot use this computer until I reformat or get more memory. The thing is so loaded with spyware nothing runs.

Reformat it with Win98 or WinMe.

It looks like it is a Pentium 4 M 1.8Ghz CPU. The 1.2Ghz might be Speedstep working.

A quick Google search showed cheap RAM upgrades at Nextag.com

What above said, we have some 2650s at work. A 2.0 and a 2.2 Pentium 4M. The lower speed is just what it "speedsteps" down to. AFAIK they didn't make them with that slow of a P4M.

The 2650s are pieces of crap.

It is worth maybe a couple hundred dollars, only if the hardware is in good working condition and with more memory.

If you have a Windows XP COA on the bottom, you buy any one of the bajillion cheap Dell XP discs and use them.

Ok great, that answers my questions. ( I have never owned a lappy so new territory for me) I'll probably offer him 250 trade in value for it then.

thanks to all. 🙂

I am late to post.... but you can probably find out the CPU details once you get into the BIOS...
