How would that one compare to this one at Best Buy? Which do you think is a better deal for home/school use?

The deal is similar.

Dell.com deal benefits:
- $30 cheaper
- no tax where applicable
- Free 2 day shipping
- 250gb HD over 160gb

BestBuy deal benefits:
- 3gb RAM over 2gb RAM

As for the processors, I think that AMD processor may be a little better performance. Someone else can answer that better then I. I also don't know how the ATI XPress 1270 is compared to the Intel X3100.

If the best buy package is taxed and costs shipping, that sours it a lot (+$50-80). I also do not like BestBuy's tech support.

I am personally recommending the Dell deal for a friend. With cash back (from FW), no shipping, and no tax, it's significantly cheaper for about the same computer. Also she would make better use out of an extra 90gb HD space then 1 more GB ram. She, and probably most users of this laptop wont need 3GB ram over 2GB.

the Inspiron desktops do have a PCI-E slot, however the power supplies in them have no molex connectors, only sata connectors, also the power supply has no pci-e power connector

this is a laptop so that doesn't matter.

I just got a 1525 with a t7250, 80gb hd, and 1gb ram. It's blazing fast! However, it has vista
