I just bought this laptop used locally. She gave me the laptop, carrying case, dell cds. It appears that this does not have wireless capability right now though. I have never even used a laptop before or anything wireless...how do I get this thing to connect to my dsl router (it has wireless enabled)?

There is a slot along the left side that has a button I push and a little plastic card comes out that says "Dell" on it. My guess is this is where I put the wireless thingamajig?:)

I just helped my niece get an 1150 for Christmas, and set it up for her.

Get a PCMCIA wireless card, or a USB wireless network adaptor.
Many choices under $20.

That laptop will play solitare just fine :(
Still great for web browsing, email, and DVD playback.

Anything you can recommend as far as the adaptors go?

I'd just get the cheapest one your wireless router will support. There was a hot deal at CompUSA's website for an 802.11 b/g card for $20 that I got. Not sure if it's still available or not, try checking the hotdeals forum. You could also check the for sale/trade forum for someone looking to dump an older wireless b card for cheap...

I have the Inspiron 1150 with TrueMobile 1300 b/g Wifi Mini PCI card in it.

The mini pci card is easy to install... here are the instructions: http://docs.us.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1150/sm/upgrades.htm#1105550

You can buy a truemobile 1300 off of ebay for like $50

Heres one I found by searching ebay for "1300 Mini PCI" http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...0&item=5747880979&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

TrueMobile 1300 Mini PCI should work too... make sure its Mini PCI because they have the TrueMobile 1300 PCMCIA card too...
