Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have an update on this POS - my daughter was using it for 6 months, and one hinge came off from the screen, there does not seem to be a way to repair it other than getting a new hinge and screen... Looks like Dell gives you a limited 1 year warranty, I will try returning it to Staples first if I can dig up the receipt, or will deal with Dell (don't really want a repair, would rather get a refund and get something better). Dell seems to ALWAYS have issues with hinges on Inspirons - I had a similar problem with a 2005 vintage Inspiron, will likely stay away from these in the future.

If you want quality go to Falcon Northwest.
Dell is for bargain hunters. Also, its funny to me that 7 months later its back at the original price.

Anyone else have troubles after buying two or three of them?

Yeah, $249 is a bit of a rip-off for this, IMHO. (Edit: I guess after a few years of "Atom", and then N-series and J-series Pentium and Celeron laptops - also Atom, the "Normies" have been conditioned to accept slow PCs as a normal thing.)

I upgraded mine to 8GB of DDR4, and recently (a week ago) did a fresh install of 1903 using an MCT USB stick. (Couldn't upgrade using Windows Update, not enough room on the eMMC no matter what I did, even plugging in a USB stick.)

After that, AMD drivers, and Firefox, I'm down to less than 3GB on the eMMC. I did a mod with an SDcard, to move the \Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder over to the SDcard, so that Windows Updates wouldn't brick the laptop.

Maybe it runs better with Linux installed? Like I mentioned early on, it's Ubuntu-certified by Dell.
